Follow one proposal all the way through. GIP-0089 is the best specimen available because it completed recently and changed numbers you have seen elsewhere in this site.
Follow one proposal end to end
- Open the GIP repository and find a GIP that is currently under discussion.
- Read its motivation and rationale sections. Write down what problem it claims to solve.
- Find its forum thread and read the objections, not just the proposal.
- Now read the GIP-0089 forum thread: the argument, the figures, and the vote.
- Write down what GIP-0089 changed, in one sentence, without using the word ‘issuance’ vaguely.
- Check the Academy parameters page and confirm the figures there match what the thread says.
- Find one number in this site’s registry where two official sources disagree, and decide which you would trust.
- Write one sentence on whether you think redirecting a share of issuance to a funded body was a good decision, with a reason.
A closing thought
That last item is the point of this collection. Governance is not a spectator activity here: proposals are public, discussion is open, and the people writing GIPs are reachable.
The realistic contribution most people can make is not writing a proposal. It is reading one carefully and saying, publicly, where it is wrong. Somebody running infrastructure who spots a mechanism flaw during discussion is worth a great deal more to this protocol than any amount of commentary afterwards.
